Generazione Vigneti

Venosa, 15 hectares of vineyards and a unique Mediterranean area.

Passion that sinks
in the roots

At the foothills of Vulture, on the edge of the ancient village of Venosa, stands Regio Cantina, nestled in the green of unspoiled Basilicata. The estate’s 15 hectares of vines spread over a unique blanket of land: the lush scenery of Vulture. The ancient volcano rises on the plateau and like a father watches over the valleys below, endowing them with such exceptional terroir that this area is unique in the entire Mediterranean quadrant.

The fruit of Regio Cantina’s vineyards is the exquisite Aglianico del Vulture, one of the greatest excellences on the Italian wine horizon. The handkerchief of land that encompasses the Lucanian appellation perfectly interprets the company’s philosophy that exalts the ‘one grape – one territory’ combination.

The estate has embraced a green line that is reflected in the choice of traditional methods and sustainable viticulture. Each plant, grown organically, receives meticulous attention, so that it grows healthy and robust. However, Regio Cantina has also been able to arm itself with the most modern winemaking techniques, winking at the avant-garde.

Passion, tenacity, love for the land and its products are the coordinates within which Regio Cantina moves, whose wines are modern interpreters of the territory.

Aglianico del Vulture: the essence
of the Lucanian denomination.

The estate’s vineyards rise 380 meters above sea level, covering an expansion of 15 hectares. The favorable position of the vineyards, the quality of the soil, the lava nature of the soil and subsoil, offer a generous fruit and contribute to producing a wine with unique characteristics.

The grapes come from four different plots, planted exclusively with Aglianico vines aged between 15 and 20 years, organically. The late harvest of the grapes, between October and November, allows Regio Cantina to be able to boast the last harvest in Italy.

Aglianico del Vulture: authentic, authoritative, capable of telling the story of its land over time.

A red wine with character and longevity

In the glass, Aglianico del Vulture exhibits the depth and grandeur of the South. On the nose, its austerity melts into aromas of black cherry, crisp plum, wet earth, sweet tobacco, and that dark, almost smoky spiciness that is the hallmark of its volcanic origin. On the palate it enters authoritatively, opening elegantly to recall the heart of the mountain resting under its stone peel.

It is a wine that requires time, attention, respect. But in return he offers authenticity, longevity and a rare ability: that of telling his land with an almost moving sincerity.
